December 2021 Announcements & Show Update

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to all!

Please note in your calendars that the studio will be closed for the holiday break starting on Monday, December 20th with classes resuming on Monday, January 3rd. I also want to share an update with everyone regarding our search for a theater to possibly host a 2022 June Show.

Wendy and I have been viewing more theaters with doors continuing to close on us. The last two theaters we went to do not even allow tap dancing on their stage! This would mean that in order for us to put on a show in those particular theaters I would have to rent an additional stage to put over theirs, which is just not possible financially.

Local high school theaters are not allowing any outside renters at this time. Theaters that would have otherwise been a viable option have vaccination mandates for everyone entering the building (commonly college campuses). Other theaters are way overpriced and since my attendance is ½ of what it was pre-covid, this makes it impossible at this time to rent a larger theater. We have even looked into renting a stage to be built for an outside venue but again, none of those worked out either.

With this being said, the only possibility at this time is a smaller venue at The Sunnyvale Community Center for June 11 and 12, 2022. However, we won’t have a firm answer regarding that until sometime in January. Since we are currently on hold, it makes it rather tricky to plan for a 2022 Show.

I also want to disclose that we did look into having everyone perform for Dance Days at Great America, but the event has been canceled for 2022.

For now, we are thankful for our upcoming Christmas Show at Christmas in the Park in San Jose on Tuesday, December 14th at 8 p.m.. You can finally dance on a stage and wear that red lipstick again because we will actually SEE your beautiful faces without a mask! (Will we even recognize you??)

We know how hard each and everyone one of you has been working in your classes. Your dedication and commitment are very much appreciated. Please know that we are working hard to figure this all out for YOU! I just want to be honest and upfront with everyone that a 2022 show may or may not work out as of right now. In the meantime, LET’S JUST KEEP ON DANCING!
