Here at Tude’s School of Dance, we’ve made a commitment to making dance as accessible as possible. We believe that the gifts dancing provides are something for EVERYONE to enjoy. One of the ways we do this is by keeping costs as low as possible for our dance families.
Unfortunately, rising costs have made it necessary for us to increase our rates slightly this coming year so that we can continue to keep our doors open for anyone that feels called to dance. We appreciate everyone’s continued support as Tude’s School of Dance grows and changes in order to remain here as a safe haven for our dancers after so many decades. Please see the attached flyer for our 2023 rates.
As always, please reach out if you have any questions or concerns as our priority will always be to keep everyone dancing! Love, Tude
We’re so happy that the world is beginning to return to normal, and it’s hard to believe November is already here! The year has flown by, but we are excited to now be in the holiday season! We have several important announcements for you, so please read on.

Please note in your calendars that the studio will be closed on the following dates:

CHRISTMAS SHOW @ CHRISTMAS IN THE PARK
We are looking forward to our upcoming Christmas Show at Christmas in the Park in San Jose on Thursday, December 8th at 7 p.m.
Please tell all your friends and family to come out and support our dancers! It’s a great time to watch the show, walk around the park and enjoy all the holiday decorations!
Mark your calendars! We’re excited to announce our 2023 show: COME FLY WITH ME FLIGHT 2023 Dancing Above The Clouds The show dates are June 10 & 11, 2023. Dancers must perform in all shows and attend the Mandatory Dress Rehearsal on June 9th.
Since we all enjoyed our experience at the Sunnyvale Community Center Theater, we are happy to announce that we will be returning to that venue again for 2023.
Like last year, each student (or family) will be required to sell a minimum of 5 tickets. You would also be responsible for the cost of any unsold tickets at $20 each, in addition to the annual recital fee of $55. Your total commitment would be $155, but hopefully, you can sell those 5 tickets to friends and family!
Finally, costume balances will be due by Monday, January 16th. We are actively choosing costumes now and will notify you of your balance as soon as possible. If your family does not have the funds currently available, please reach out to me (Tude) directly to arrange for other payment plans. We do not want money to get in the way of anyone’s participation if they want to dance in the show.
We know how hard each and every one of you have been working in your classes. Your dedication and commitment are very much appreciated.
Mark your calendars for Thursday, December 8th! Our dancers are working hard to spread some Christmas cheer at our Annual TSoD Christmas Show, so come feel the holiday spirit with us at 7:00 p.m. at Christmas in the Park in downtown San Jose!
Here is a glimpse of all the hard work and long hours our dedicated dancers have put into this year’s June Show, Together We Rise! We could not be more proud of all the effort that everyone has made to come together and make this show happen. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
Don’t forget to get your tickets now for our three performances this coming weekend: Saturday 6/11 @ 1:00 p.m. & 6:00 p.m. and Sunday 6/12 @ 1:00 p.m.

We are so thrilled to share with you the logo for our June Show 2022!
We are incredibly grateful to finally be able to have the opportunity to put on a show after two long years. We’ve dedicated the theme for this year to the enduring spirit of our dance family; Even when life’s challenges weigh us down, TOGETHER WE RISE!
Please see below for the Tude’s School of Dance official June Show Flyer, which can also be found on our Facebook group.
We are currently trying to determine if we will need to put on an additional third performance in order to accommodate the anticipated number of guests for our 2022 June Show.
To help us determine what that number may be, we are asking each dance family to please fill out our Guest Attendance Count Questionnaire through the following google docs link: https://forms.gle/M6AaQJEj7LuqZLFn8
You can also find the link on our Facebook group. Thank you in advance for your assistance and prompt response!
We finally heard back from the Sunnyvale Community Center Theater letting us know that the weekend of June 11-12 is now available for booking.
Now is a critical time for us to make a decision regarding if we will put on a June Show or postpone it again. There are multiple factors at play, and we want everyone to be fully aware of what it would take to make this happen before we ask for everyone’s commitment.
First of all, with the audience capacity set at 200, we are limited to 2 or 3 shows depending on how many performers decide to participate.
In addition to this and perhaps more importantly, due to lower attendance than normal, each student or family will be required to sell a minimum of 5 tickets. This means that families will need to sell at least 5 tickets total, not individually. You would also be responsible for the cost of any unsold tickets at $20 apiece, is in addition to the annual recital fee of $55. If you were to cover the cost of all five tickets and the recital fee, your total would be $155. This is truly the only way we would be able to have a show in a theater this year.
Masks must be worn by dancers and audience members at all times, even while you are performing.Proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test is also required of anyone entering the theater. With this being such a late start for us, costumes may not be as extravagant as normal. Never fear though, your dancing will be enough! You will shine no matter what!
If you are not comfortable with this, we also have the option of either waiting longer to perform later in the fall, or simply just waiting yet another year. I know most of you are eager to perform and get back on that stage, but we want to do what is best for everyone. The show dates would be June 11 & 12. Dancers must perform in all shows and attend the Mandatory Dress Rehearsal on June 10.
To more efficiently collect everyone’s responses, we are asking that every individual or family complete the google form found through this link: https://forms.gle/ar8biQBzdosdnm6w5 If you are unable to access the form by clicking the link here, please copy and paste the address into your browser. We will also be sharing this link on our Facebook page and on the studio’s website.
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT I HEAR BACK FROM YOU ASAP, no later than January 22.
As always, I love you all so much and am very thankful you are still dancing at my studio through this craziness. My faculty and I appreciate all of you! If you’re in, we’re in! If not, then we just keep on dancing and look forward to our next performance when things lighten up!
Please note in your calendars that the studio will be closed for the holiday break starting on Monday, December 20th with classes resuming on Monday, January 3rd. I also want to share an update with everyone regarding our search for a theater to possibly host a 2022 June Show.
Wendy and I have been viewing more theaters with doors continuing to close on us. The last two theaters we went to do not even allow tap dancing on their stage! This would mean that in order for us to put on a show in those particular theaters I would have to rent an additional stage to put over theirs, which is just not possible financially.
Local high school theaters are not allowing any outside renters at this time. Theaters that would have otherwise been a viable option have vaccination mandates for everyone entering the building (commonly college campuses). Other theaters are way overpriced and since my attendance is ½ of what it was pre-covid, this makes it impossible at this time to rent a larger theater. We have even looked into renting a stage to be built for an outside venue but again, none of those worked out either.
With this being said, the only possibility at this time is a smaller venue at The Sunnyvale Community Center for June 11 and 12, 2022. However, we won’t have a firm answer regarding that until sometime in January. Since we are currently on hold, it makes it rather tricky to plan for a 2022 Show.
I also want to disclose that we did look into having everyone perform for Dance Days at Great America, but the event has been canceled for 2022.
For now, we are thankful for our upcoming Christmas Show at Christmas in the Park in San Jose on Tuesday, December 14th at 8 p.m.. You can finally dance on a stage and wear that red lipstick again because we will actually SEE your beautiful faces without a mask! (Will we even recognize you??)
We know how hard each and everyone one of you has been working in your classes. Your dedication and commitment are very much appreciated. Please know that we are working hard to figure this all out for YOU! I just want to be honest and upfront with everyone that a 2022 show may or may not work out as of right now. In the meantime, LET’S JUST KEEP ON DANCING!
